Elliot (Paul Rudd) e a sua filha adolescente, Ridley (Jenna Ortega), estão a caminho de visitar o patrão de Elliot, Leopold (Richard E. Grant), quando se veem irreparavelmente catapultados para território fantástico ao atropelarem um unicórnio bebé. Quando decidem levar a criatura até à casa de Leopold, desconhecem que o seu sangue e as raspas do seu chifre possuem propriedades medicinais. Leopold, CEO de uma grande empresa farmacêutica, rapidamente intui a oportunidade de lucrar com a descoberta, planeando comercializá-la junto das elites. “É como se as personagens de Succession encontrassem o Deus-Veado de Princess Mononoke”, afirma o estreante Alex Scharfman, estabelecendo o tom desta caricatura mordaz, banhada em humor cáustico e com piscadelas de olho ao camp dos anos 80, que retrata uma sociedade contemporânea a braços com a sua própria insaciabilidade.
Elliot (Paul Rudd) and his teenage daughter, Ridley (Jenna Ortega), are on their way to visit Elliot’s boss, Leopold (Richard E. Grant), when they are irrevocably thrust into a world of fantasy after hitting a baby unicorn with their car. They decide to take the creature to Leopold’s house, unaware that its blood and horn shavings possess medicinal properties. Leopold, CEO of a major pharmaceutical company, quickly senses an opportunity to profit from the discovery and plans to market it to the elite. “It’s like the characters from Succession meeting the Deer God from Princess Mononoke,” says debut director Alex Scharfman, setting the tone for this biting satire, drenched in caustic humor and peppered with nods to 1980s camp, portraying a contemporary society struggling with its own insatiable appetite.
